Over the weekend, Pets Place held pictures with Santa for your pets. All of the proceeds benefited the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, a cause that is very dear to my heart. My good friend Nancy took this picture. She was the photographer for the day.....she is amazing.
These two wonderful animals are Stella (the black one) and Cooper (the brindle/white one). YES, they are pit bulls. About 4 years ago I was introduced to the "bully breed" for the first time. We adopted Stella from a shelter in Akron. She was running the streets with a broken hip bone. She was 2/3 when we rescued her. She is now a registered Delta Society Therapy dog. She goes to Aultman hospital, nursing homes, and has even gone to a few preschools. Cooper we rescued about 2 years ago. He was found living in a car with his sister on his way to a fighting ring.
They are the most amazing dogs. People always say to me, well they are good because it is "all in how you raise them", I could not disagree more. Look at where mine came from.
One of the best gifts that I think I have given to my kids is the understanding that everyone is different. I use our dogs as examples all the time, never judge someone purely on looks.
