Something Good........
Olivia and Owen's school is doing Share-A-Christmas this year. The kids came home from school last week and asked me if they could take a tag off the tree to buy a gift for someone who "really needed a present." Who could say NO?? So I told them each to get one tag.
Olivia got a "girl ages birth to 2" so she picked out a baby doll with a carrier. She said "every little girl needs a baby doll."
Owen picked "boy ages birth to 2." Owen really looked at gifts for himself, I had to keep reminding him why we were there. Once I explained that we were looking for a gift for a little boy like Nolan, that seemed to work. He picked out a carry and go car play set.
They each picked out there favorite gift bag to put the gift in. We finished getting them all ready and set them with there book bags. They get to take the gifts Monday to school and put them under the tree. They really enjoyed doing this.
Chris and I really try hard to do something with the kids that make them understand that not everyone is as lucky as they are. It was very heartwarming that they were the ones who asked to do this project. It was interesting to see there reaction when we explained to them why we were buying for "someone else that we did not know." After my explanation, Owen then said, "well, Santa will bring everyone stuff.....Right??" OH Boy! Sometimes they are to smart for there own good.
